At Orkin Canada, we believe that giving back to the communities we service everyday is absolutely essential. With a variety of different initiatives run annually throughout the year, we always look to do our part and be the change.

Orkin Canada Saving The Bees

At Orkin Canada, we are not just pest control experts, we also want to do our part to help the environment and ensure a future for these incredible pollinators. We have partnered up with Alvéole to welcome 5,000 honey bee tenants at our Burnaby, Coquitlam, Calgary, Mississauga, and Halifax branches. These amazing honey bees are cared for and supported by our partner Alveole, who ensure that the health and enhancement of our bee population is thriving. The sustainability of the honey bee population is a cause close to our heart and an initiative we will continue to champion.

Habitat For Humanity

We believe that everyone deserves to have access to affordable shelter, which is what drove us to give back and work with Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers members of our GTA and Ontario regional teams took part in 2 separate builds in the GTA area over 2018 and 2019. Even though 2020 changed everything, we look forward to getting back to working with Habitat, and expanding across Canada, as soon as it is safe to do so.

Helping Keep Canada Disinfected

2020 has presented numerous challenges for many nonprofit organizations throughout Canada. This challenge presented our team with an opportunity to do our part in order to ensure that these organizations had the appropriate tools to operate safely. We donated hand sanitizer, PPE and our disinfectant services to a variety of nonprofit organizations across Canada including food banks, religious institutions and shelters.

Orkin Canada Sleeves-Up

The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic had an immense impact on blood services across North America, with these services facing a severe blood shortage due to cancelled blood drives. Orkin Canada wanted to play our part in assisting these services by donating blood. As millions of Canadians, including our employees and their families, rely on blood services to survive we felt it was necessary to do something to help our fellow Canadians. Our team donated over 18 litres of blood, which will help save the lives of over 123 Canadians. Many of our employees continue to donate on a regular basis in order to ease the strain on Canada’s blood services.

At Orkin Canada, we are proud to be an organization that celebrates diversity and provides an equal environment for all, where every employee’s voice matters. We look forward to continuing to do our part to put an end to bullying and discrimination.

At Orkin Canada, we had the honour to be a part of an important cause through our summer “Fight the Bite to Save a Life” Mosquito donation campaign with Canadian Blood Services . We look forward to taking part in other future charitable initiatives that will have a positive impact on the communities where we work, live and play.

SickKids GetLoud

Orkin Canada got active and fundraised as part of SickKids Getloud initiative. As an industry leader, we recognize the ongoing responsibility to make a difference in our community. SickKids has always been on the front lines in the fight for children’s health. So we wanted to do our part to ensure future generations have access to these same facilities. The Orkin Canada family participated in the 2022 GetLoud walk, with the aim of reaching our fundraising goal.

The Orkin Canada Cares team spent the better part of the day getting “down and dirty,” planting more than 350 seedling trees to prevent erosion along the banks of the Pine River. 22 Orkin Canada Care team members — comprised of the vice president of Orkin Canada, branch managers, service managers, an entomologist, sales representatives, service technicians and office representatives — participated in the planting.

Supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters

The Orkin Canada Cares team raised over $26,125 to support Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada. As an industry leader, we recognized the ongoing responsibility to make a difference in our community and reinforce our company’s charitable leadership all at the same time. Big Brothers and Big Sisters has always been on the front lines advocating for children in our communities. We wanted to do our part to ensure future generations have access to the same opportunities. As this cause was personal to Dale Kurt, our GTA Regional Manager,  who has been a lifelong Big Brother to his little brother Paul for 22 years.
