Gold Medal IPM Partner Awards Recognize Canadian Partnerships

This year, the Gold Medal IPM Partner Awards once again recognized our branches' outstanding Integrated Pest Management (IPM) partnerships with their Gold Medal Protection customers. Thirty-one customers received recognition as nominees for the award, which honors those customers who go above and beyond in their commitment to an IPM partnership with Orkin Canada.

In October, four Canadian customers and servicing branches were selected as Gold Medal IPM Partner Award winners by Orkin, The IPM Institute of North America and NSF Cook & Thurber, who joined the awards for the first time as a co-presenter. On-site awards presentations conducted in October and November recognized the achievements of each winning customer facility and branch office.

"These awards are proof of the great service our branches are providing to these valuable customers," said Orkin Canada President Gary Muldoon. "By continuing to develop proactive partnerships with our key customers, we are encouraging them to actively participate in our pest management and food safety efforts"

Congratulations to the 2007 Gold Medal IPM Partner Award winners:

Jones Packaging Inc. (London, Ontario) and Orkin Canada London Branch

Jones Packaging has supplied premiere packaging solutions and innovations to the pharmaceutical, food and confectionery industries for more than 115 years. Following a "zero tolerance" approach to pest control, Jones Packaging and Orkin Canada implement strict sanitation methods and a detailed reporting system as part of the IPM program.

"Jones Packaging trusts Orkin Canada to protect their facility from pests, but they also understand that effective pest management requires teamwork," said London Branch Manager Bruno Levesque. "They uphold their end of the deal by listening to our advice and implementing corrective action plans immediately."

Maidstone Bakeries (Brantford, Ontario) and Orkin Canada Cambridge Branch

Two-time award winner, Maidstone Bakeries is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for bakery goods. Maidstone Bakeries relies on all employees to do their parts in maintaining the strict sanitation standards necessary to make their IPM partnership with Orkin Canada award-winning.

"Open communication is critical in our partnership with Maidstone Bakeries," noted Cambridge Branch Manager Steve Witter. "When we make suggestions on how Maidstone could improve its IPM program, employees react immediately, sometimes discussing the change among different departments, so they can get on it right away. Their level of commitment really shows that they're on top of their game."

Neilson Dairy (Ottawa, Ontario) and Orkin Canada Ottawa Branch

A world-class manufacturer of fresh milk and aseptic beverages, Neilson Dairy emphasizes weekly communication with their Orkin Canada pest specialist to ensure that all recommendations are implemented in a timely manner. Neilson Dairy’s extensive sanitation efforts contribute to the success of the IPM program by removing the need for chemical sprayings.

"When we arrive at Neilson Dairy, they make us feel like we’re a part of their team," said Ottawa Branch Manager Rob Caron. "They have a great sanitation program in place and their employees help with the pest monitoring efforts, which makes our job all the more effective."

Parmalat Dairy & Bakery Inc. (Laverlochère, Québec) and Orkin Canada Sudbury Branch

Parmalat Dairy & Bakery and Orkin Canada collaborate closely to help prevent pest problems through sanitation and facility maintenance efforts. A producer of butter and milk powders, Parmalat Dairy & Bakery attributes employee participation in the IPM efforts as a key to their success.

"Parmalat has helped us achieve the total package: from open communication to good sanitation to thorough reporting, their IPM program allows us to better manage pests and achieve great audit scores," remarked Ottawa Branch Manager Rob Caron, who nominated the customer.
